OPENING: Advanced digital documentary class
Students were all so poised and articulate as they each gave remarks about their projects. I had a terrific time meeting the family and friends who were there to celebrate this great class!
Each student chose a documentary photo essay topic they wanted to focus on for the quarter. It was informative for the audience to hear each student present their work, talk about their techniques and learn about the thinking behind the shooting.
One of the amazing things about teaching at Youth In Focus is the diverse backgrounds of the students (and staff too!). That diversity is reflected in the topics - which were varied and intriguing. Essays ranged from a personal take on youth violence, to restoring a nature preserve, to capturing the personality of a beloved family member, to documenting street artists at work.
Students were the personification of passionate and concerned photographers. Congratulation to all for a job well done!
